About
Poetry: "We promote all aspects of the reading, writing, publishing, purchasing, and preservation of poetry in Canada. The CPA promotes the creation of local chapters to organize readings, workshops, publishing projects, and other poetry-related events in their area." Membership is open to anyone with an interest in poetry, including publishers, schools, libraries, booksellers, and other literary organizations. Levels of membership/dues: $35 CAD/year, seniors, students, and fixed income, $25 CAD, International, $45 USD. Publishes a magazine, Poemata , featuring news articles, chapter reports, poetry by new members, book reviews, markets information, announcements, and more. Membership form available for SASE or on website. Also sponsors The CPA Annual Poetry Contest, with 3 cash prizes plus up to 10 Honorable Mentions. Open to the public. Winning poems published in Poemata and on CPA website. Deadline: June 30, 2010. Guidelines available for SASE or on website. "Send in your best verse!"
