About
Poetry: The "Discovery" Poetry Contest is designed to attract large audiences to poets who have not yet published a book. Awards a cash prize to 4 winners, plus a reading at The Unterberg Poetry Center and publication in a literary journal of national distribution, to be announced. New guidelines available on website. Endowed by Joan L. and Dr. Julius H. Jacobson, II. Offers $1000 prize and publication in MARGIE/The American Journal of Poetry (see separate listing in Magazines/Journals) for best poem. Twelve finalists are also published, and all entries will be considered for publication. Submissions must be unpublished. Considers simultaneous submissions. Submit 3 poems, 60 line limit/poem. Include cover sheet with poet's name, address, phone number, e-mail (if possible), and poem titles, no identifying information on poems. Include SASE for results only, mss will not be returned. Guidelines available by e-mail or on website. Entry fee: $15 for 3 poems, additional poems may be entered for $5 each. Make checks payable to MARGIE, Inc. Deadline: TBA
