About
A Midsummer Tale is a contest open to non-genre fiction, creative non-fiction, and hybrids thereof. Theme changes each year. Ideally, stories will take place during a warm time of the year, and this element will be an integral part of the story. The word range is 1,000-5,000 words. Check website for current focus and contest address. First prize: $20 Amazon gift certificate, publication, Second prize: $15 Amazon gift certificate, publication, Third prize: $10 Amazon gift certificate, publication. Categories: non-genre fiction, creative nonfiction. Judged by two Toasted Cheese editors who blind-judge each contest. Each judge has her own criteria for selecting winners. No entry fee. Guidelines, including the e-mail address to which you should send your entry and instructions for what to include and how to format, are available April 1 on website. Accepts inquiries by e-mail. Deadline: June 21. Entries must be unpublished. Open to any writer. Results announced July 31 on website. Winners notified by e-mail.
